Securing Your Digital Real Estate

Securing a matching domain name is an important step in establishing a digital presence. Whether you are launching a gaming blog, building a streaming portfolio, or creating a gaming startup, a domain can give your brand a stable home that you control while its registration remains active.

While social platforms can change their terms or account policies, a registered domain gives you more control over where your audience finds you. It still needs renewal and remains subject to registrar and registry policies, so keep the registration details current.

Choosing the Right Domain Extension (TLD)

Different top-level domains serve different community expectations. This checker defaults to `.com` for US-focused searches, while full domains can be checked against their explicitly entered extension:

  • .com: The default choice for a US-focused brand and usually the first extension users type.
  • .us: A country-code option for brands that want an explicitly US identity.
  • .gg: The ultimate TLD for gaming. Originating as the country code for Guernsey, it is now globally recognized as 'Good Game' and used by top esports organizations, streamers, and gaming projects.
  • .io: Highly popular among tech startups, indie developers, and browser game creators. It represents 'Input/Output' and carries a modern, technical aesthetic.
  • .net / .xyz: Excellent alternatives for generic portfolio sites, backend infrastructure, or community hubs when the `.com` is unavailable.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an RDAP domain check and how does it work?

Registration Data Access Protocol (RDAP) is a modern web-standard successor to WHOIS. It queries registry databases, such as Verisign for .com and .net, for registration records. A 404 response usually means no registry record was found, but that is not a reservation or purchase guarantee—confirm with a registrar before buying.

Why does the client query pass through a backend endpoint?

Some RDAP registries do not allow browser cross-origin requests. The frontend therefore calls this site’s Cloudflare Worker endpoint, which performs the registry lookups server-to-server and returns only the status needed by the checker.

Is this domain checker secure and private?

The app does not save searched names in an application database or sell domain ideas. Requests pass through Cloudflare and public RDAP registries, so standard infrastructure logs may exist. The checker is a lightweight lookup, not a lead-capture tool.

Which TLD extensions are checked?

Enter a name without an extension to check .com by default. If you enter a full domain such as yourname.us, yourname.dev, or yourname.gg, we check that exact extension through its public RDAP registry when one is available.

Why should a gamer or streamer register a domain for their gamertag?

Owning your matching domain (such as yourname.com or yourname.gg) protects your brand from impersonators, provides a professional hub for links to your Twitch, YouTube, and merchandise, and allows you to create custom branded email addresses.

Does domain availability mean the handle is also available on gaming platforms?

No. Domain registries (.com, .net, etc.) are independent of game platforms like Xbox, PlayStation, Roblox, or Discord. An available domain only confirms the website name is unregistered in the domain registry. You must check handle availability separately on each platform.
